The motorcyclist who was killed in a crash Sunday on U.S. 95A near the Scolari’s shopping center has been identified as Fernley resident Stanley Stevens Stainbrook, 61.

Stainbrook died from injuries he suffered when his motorcycle collided with an SUV.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, troopers were called Sunday, Oct. 29 at approximately 12:51 p.m. to U.S. 95A near West Newlands Drive in Fernley for a serious injury crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV.

The NHP reports that a preliminary investigation indicates that Stainbrook was riding a black and white 2013 Harley Davidson Motorcycle traveling northbound on U.S. 95A and entered the center turn lane. Stainbrook made a left turn to go into the shopping center parking lot, into the path of a gray 2017 Jeep Cherokee that was southbound in the slow lane. The driver of the Jeep was unable to slow or stop and struck the motorcycle.

Stainbrook rider was transported by ambulance to rendezvous with CareFlight, but unfortunately succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the collision. The driver of the Jeep remained on scene until emergency responders arrived.

Trooper Doug Hildebrand of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Multi-disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) is investigating this crash. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have any information related to this crash is encouraged to contact Trooper Hildebrand (NHP) at 775-687-9617 or [email protected] regarding case #171002755.
