Fernley boys soccer wins League title
Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

The Fernley High School boys soccer team finished its roll through the Northern 3A League B with an unbeaten record, and will take on South Tahoe in the first round of the Northern 3A Regional Tournament next week in Winnemucca.

The Vaqueros finished the regular season with an 8-0 win over Battle Mountain on Thursday. With the win, Fernley finished league play with a 10-0-2 record. In those 12 league games, the Vaqueros scored 61 goals and allowed just three.

The Vaqueros allowed two of those goals last weekend, in a 1-1 tie at West Wendover on Oct. 20, and a 5-1 win over White Pine on Oct. 21.

As the No. 1 seed from League B, the Vaqueros will face South Tahoe, the No. 5 seed from League A, at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 on Field 4 at Lowry High School.

South Tahoe finished with a 7-6-3 record in League A.

The Fernley/South Tahoe winner will face either Truckee (#2A) or Yerington (#2B). The championship game is scheduled for noon Saturday, Nov. 4, with both finalists advancing to the State tournament.
