Girls basketball Extravaganza raises funds for program
Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

Coach John Rogers and the Fernley High School girls basketball program would like to thank everyone who contributed and attended the third annual Girls Basketball Extravaganza on Oct. 14.

Attendees were served salmon or prime rib dinner, with many raffle prizes and silent auction items donated.

“We want to thank all the businesses who donated banners, prizes and food, and all the parents who sold tickets and raffle prizes,” Rogers said. “Everything is based on volunteers.”

Along with dinner, games and the raffle and silent auction, the players sold banners to local businesses as advertisements that are displayed on the wall in the FHS gym.

Rogers said the proceeds from the Extravaganza and the banners will be used to pay expenses for the three girls basketball teams, including travel expenses, hotel and food costs for overnight trips, spirit packs for players, team builders and assistant coaches pay.

“The community did a great job coming out to support us, and hopefully we do good job of giving them a great night and fun,” Rogers said.
