Kollar, Montgomery qualify for 3A State Golf meet

Fernley’s Jenna Kollar and McKenna Montgomery each qualified as at-large candidates for the 3A State Girls Golf Championship, which will be contested next Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 18-19 in Pahrump.

Kollar qualified as the No. 2 at large contender, while Montgomery was the fifth at-large qualifier.

Both players solidified their state berths with their scores during two meets this week in Fernley and Fallon.

Monday in Fallon, Kollar shot 102 and Montgomery shot 118. Olivia Victor had Fernley’s second lowest score at 115, while Hailee Edgar also shot 118, for a team total of 453. Reyanne Murchison shot 124 for Fernley and Maya Fisher shot 139.

Elko won the meet with a team total of 375, Lowry as second at 414, Fallon came in third with 444 and Spring Creek scored 450.

In Tuesday’s meet at the Golf Club at Fernley, Montgomery shot 102 and Kollar checked in at 105 to lead the Vaqueros, who finished fifth as a team.

Edgar shot 112 I Tuesday’s meet, while both Victor and Murchison shot 113, and Fisher checked in at 133.

Fernley’s top four scorers combined for a team score of 432.

Elko won the meet with a team score of 352, Lowry finished second at 392 Spring Creek came in fourth with 405 and Fallon was fourth at 427.

The State meet will be held next Wednesday and Thursday at Mountain Falls Golf Club in Pahrump.

Elko is the North’s No. 1 team, while Lowry is No. 2 and Spring Creek is the No. 3 qualifier.
