Wheeler to speak Tuesday to Fernley Republican Women
State Assemblyman Jim Wheeler is scheduled to be the guest speaker for the next meeting of the Fernley Republican Women, this Tuesday, June 15.
The meeting will be the FRW’s membership meeting at the Fernley High School Library. A light meal will be served at 6 p.m. with the meeting starting promptly at 6:30 p.m.
Wheeler has represented Assembly District 39 since 2013, serving as the Minority Leader from 2017-2019. He is a former law enforcement officer, a Veteran, and an accomplished CEO. Wheeler founded a successful manufacturing company, Powerdyne Automotive Products, Inc. and grew the company into a multi-million dollar corporation within a few short years and was named CEO by the Board of Directors.
The FRW’s Caring for America/Adopt a Soldier Program collects non-perishable foods for the Fernley Food Bank, along with donations of funds, food and supplies for the Veterans Guest House in Reno. The Literacy Committee collects new or slightly used children’s books for Bow Wow Books, an organization that teamed up with the Fernley Library. Bow Wow Reading Dogs are non-judgmental certified therapy dogs who listen to children reading aloud. The dog’s handler has been educated on how to help readers learn to read.
