FRW hosting membership meeting Tuesday

The Fernley Republican Women will hold its membership meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the Fernley High School Library.  A light meal will be served at 6 p.m. and the meeting will start promptly at 6:30 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Kimber L.A. Crabtree, M.A.  who will be speaking on “Why Emotional Wellness is a Conservative Cause and Some Other Interesting Stuff”.  Kimber was originally scheduled for last month, but had to reschedule until October.

Crabtree has a love and passion for rural Nevada. Both sides of her family have lived in Mason and Smith Valley for a little over six generations and as all were very involved in small town Nevada politics, Kimber could not escape being called into an interest in politics herself. She is an elected Board of Trustee Member, Lyon County. Kimber is a recent graduate with her master’s in mental health counseling and will in the next few weeks add the credentialing of CPC, Intern to her name. She is also writing a book that she hopes to finish by Christmas.

The FRW’s Caring for America/Adopt a Soldier Program collects non-perishable foods for the Fernley Food Bank, along with donations of funds, food and supplies for the Veterans Guest House in Reno.  The Literacy Committee collects new or slightly used children’s books for Bow Wow Books, an organization that teamed up with the Fernley Library.  Bow WowReading Dogs are non-judgmental certified therapy dogs who listen to children reading aloud.  The dog’s handler has been educated on how to help readers learn to read.  All contributions for these important programs will be greatly appreciated.  Financial contributions can be sent to the FRW at P.O. Box 412, Fernley, Nevada 89408.
