The Waste Management Fernley Transfer Station will resume operations and offer regular public drop-off hours starting Tuesday, April 28. Mayor Roy Edgington announced in a video posted to the city’s Facebook page Friday afternoon.

Edgington sad additional PPE and social distancing protocols have been implemented for the safety of the public and Waste Management employees. These protocols include a temporary halt to cash transactions; however debit and credit cards and checks will be accepted.

“Extra precautions may lead to longer than usual wait times and your patience is greatly appreciated,” Edgington said.

In addition, Edgington customers with curbside service may drop off up to six standard sized trash bags of waste per week at no additional charge, while Waste Management drivers continue to remain in their trucks and focused on containerized waste collection.

To take advantage of this additional bag drop off service with no charge, Edgington said residents need to bring a copy of their Waste Management billing statement, or an ID matching the address on the account. Additional waste disposal will be charged at regular rates.

  • I wish waste management was gone and the county controlled the transfer station the way it was before, it would be nice to have the transfer station more affordable to go to, I am retired I would go once a month can't do that any more, to much money!
