The Fernley City Council has scheduled a special meeting at 5 p.m. this Thursday, Feb. 27, to interview the six applicants to fill the vacant Ward 2 seat and appoint a replacement.
The Ward 2 seat was vacated when Third Judicial District Court Judge John Schlegelmilch ruled that Dan McCassie, who moved out of Ward 2, must resign his seat.
The city has received applications from seven candidates to replace McCassie, but one of them livs outside the boundaries of Ward 2 and was deemed ineligible for the position. The six applicants who will be interviewed are Darren Anderson, Michael DeTullio, Donald Parsons, Shellie Severa, Grant Wilcock and Felicity Zoberski.
The order of applicants will be selected randomly, by drawing, the day of the interviews. Each applicant will be asked a series of questions and then have an opportunity to ask any questions they might have. Each interview is limited to 30 minutes. Upon completion of the interviews, the Council will deliberate and make an appointment. The selected appointee will be sworn in at the City Council meeting scheduled for March 4 at 5 p.m.
