CRRC construction on pace for July 3 completion

Construction on the first phase of the Community Response and Resource Center is roughly 33 percent complete and on schedule to be completed next July, according to a report presented at the Oct. 16 meeting of the Fernley City Council.

Mike Allen, senior project manager for the Cumming Corporation, the city’s representative for the CRRC, presented the city with an update of the costs to date and the progress of construction. He said according to the numbers through the end of September, work completed was $5,452,095.49 of the $17,765,798 budget.

The city held a topping off ceremony on Oct. 4 to mark the placement of the final steel beam in the building. Allen said having all the pavement down and the topping off are key milestone dates for the construction.

Allen also said they haven’t yet used any of the 15 weather days that were built into the schedule, although they expect to in winter and spring.

That 33 percent of work completed includes the site work, which if finished except for grading around the building, and landscaping. He said the structure itself is almost done, and the enclosure is the next phase.

“That’s one of the key components we’re trying to shoot for, I think December, to have the roof on and the building essentially dried so we can continue with framing and mechanical plumbing,” he said.

He said that 33-percent completion should go up another 5 to 10 percent through November.

“Schedule wise, we’re on schedule,” Allen said. “We’re still on target.”
