The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is participating in a statewide Joining Forces impaired-driving campaign through June 21.
The enforcement effort coordinates highly visible patrols among Nevada law-enforcement agencies to remove impaired drivers from the road and increase public awareness about the risks of driving under the influence.
The sheriff’s office notes that a DUI can cost more than $10,000 in fines, fees and related expenses and can lead to jail time, vehicle impoundment, loss of a driver’s license, job consequences and crashes that cause injuries or death.
Deputies urge motorists to use a sober driver, rideshare service or taxi rather than drive impaired.
The agency also continues its support of the state’s Zero Fatalities goal, which focuses on reducing deaths related to impaired driving, speeding, lack of seat belt use and other unsafe driving behaviors.

The Nevada Office of Traffic Safety funds local participation in Joining Forces.
