Walther announces campaign for District Attorney

Mario Walther has announced he is running for Lyon County District Attorney.

Walther is a fourth-generation Nevadan who has spent his legal career working in Lyon County. He has practiced in a variety of areas of law and has worked with local courts, law enforcement agencies, and community members.

“I care deeply about this community and the people who call Lyon County home,” Walther said. “Throughout my career, I have worked closely with our courts, law enforcement, and residents, and I believe that experience has given me the perspective needed to serve effectively as District Attorney.”

In addition to his private practice, Walther serves as a Commissioner on the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners. In that role, he has worked with nonprofit organizations, ranchers, farmers, government officials, and other stakeholders on public lands and conservation issues.

Walther said his background has given him a broad understanding of how cases move through the court system.

“I have seen how the system works from every angle,” he said. “That experience allows me to identify weaknesses, build stronger cases, and make sure justice is served while maintaining fairness and integrity.”

If elected, Walther said he would focus on partnerships with local law enforcement, support for victims, and ensuring the justice system functions effectively for county residents.

Walther lives in Lyon County with his family and is active in the local community.
