Local races taking shape as filing period ends Friday

With four days remaining in the filing period, several local races were beginning to take shape as the first candidates filed for office. As of Monday, two people had filed to run for the Fernley City Council in both Wards 1 and 3, while five had signed up to vie for the mayor’s position.

There are two seats open on the Fernley Swimming Pool GID Board of Trustees, and two on the North Lyon Fire Protection District Board of Directors. No candidates had filed for the pool board as of Monday, while only one person had filed for the fire board.

The filing period ends at 5 p.m. Friday, but as of Tuesday these were the candidates who had filed:

Fernley City Council
Ward 1: Ryan Hanan, Gregory Barrett
Ward 3: Ryan Cross, Roy Edgington

Mayor
Neal McIntyre, Alex Colosi, John Barchie, Lawrence Ruiz, Tim Bickerton

Lyon County Commission
District 2: Scott Keller
District 5: Mark Phillips, Cole Mortensen, Micah Triplett, Mark Jones

District Attorney
Mark Krueger, Mario Walther

North Lyon County Fire Protection District
Erik Wallitner

Lyon County School Board
District 2: Darin Farr
District 4: Tom Hendrix
District 6: Kallie Day, Vince Spoon

Sheriff
