WNC offers emergency medical technician training for spring semester

Serve your community on the front lines of emergency health care by training to become an emergency medical technician at Western Nevada College.

WNC is offering Emergency Medical Services (EMS) 108 during the Spring 2026 semester, providing students with the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills needed to assess and care for patients in emergency and pre-hospital settings. The course prepares students for both national and state certification exams for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Advanced EMT positions.

“Emergency medical technicians are often the first point of care in critical situations, and their role in keeping our communities safe cannot be overstated,” said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. “Through programs like EMS 108, Western Nevada College is preparing students with the skills, confidence and hands-on experience they need to step into these vital roles. We’re proud to support pathways that lead directly to meaningful careers while strengthening emergency healthcare services across our region.”

The EMS 108 class meets from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Jan. 20 and continuing through May 16. Attendance is mandatory during the first week of classes.

To enroll, students must be at least 18 years old and meet program requirements, including current CPR certification, health insurance, required immunizations, flu vaccination and testing.
