Lyon County Commissioner Scott Keller announced that he will seek re-election for a second term for the District 2 seat on the Lyon County Commission.

Keller was elected to represent District 2 in 2022, which covers part of Fernley and part of Silver Springs. He served as the commission chairman in 2025.

The filing period for candidates running for office is from March 2–13.

In announcing his candidacy for a second term, Keller cited his commitment to practical leadership, responsible growth, and securing resources that strengthen Lyon County’s communities.

Since taking office in 2023, Keller said he has focused on the fundamentals that matter most to residents, including public safety, emergency preparedness, infrastructure, and essential services, while maintaining a steady, fiscally responsible approach to county government.

“Lyon County deserves leadership that’s focused on results, not rhetoric,” Keller said. “Over the past term, we’ve worked to bring outside dollars home, improve coordination during emergencies, and make smart, long-term decisions for our rural communities. There’s more work to do, and I’m running to continue that work.”

During his first term, Keller said the Commission approved and supported the acceptance and pursuit of state and federal grant funding for critical county priorities, including public safety initiatives, emergency recovery efforts, behavioral health services, airport improvements, and water and wastewater infrastructure planning.

“These efforts have helped position Lyon County to compete for and responsibly manage outside funding, reducing pressure on local taxpayers while addressing real needs,” Keller said.

As Board Chair, Keller said he has emphasized collaboration with fellow commissioners, county staff, state partners, and federal agencies to ensure Lyon County remains prepared, resilient, and well-positioned for future challenges.

“Good county government isn’t flashy,” Keller added. “It’s about showing up, doing the work, and making sure Lyon County is ready for tomorrow while protecting the values that make this a great place to live.”

Keller said his re-election campaign will focus on strengthening public safety and emergency readiness, supporting infrastructure and utility improvements, pursuing grant and funding opportunities that benefit local taxpayers, and preserving Lyon County’s rural character while planning responsibly for growth.
