Lyon County Invites Community Input on Water Resource Plan

Lyon County Invites Community Input on Water Resource Plan

Lyon County officials are inviting residents to share their input in shaping a Comprehensive

Water Resource Plan designed to guide how the county protects, manages, and invests in one of

its most valuable resources — water.

The plan aims to identify long-term strategies for sustainable water use, infrastructure

improvements, and resource protection across the county’s diverse communities, from

agricultural valleys to rapidly growing cities like Fernley.

Fernley residents, in particular, are encouraged to participate. As one of the fastest-growing areas

in northern Nevada, Fernley faces unique challenges related to groundwater management,

development pressure, and long-term water reliability. County staff say community feedback will

be essential to ensure the plan reflects local priorities and captures the realities of each region.

“Water is the foundation of every community, from farms and families to industry and growth,”

county officials said in a social media post. “We want to hear from residents about what matters

most when it comes to water access, quality, and infrastructure.”

The Lyon County Water Resource Plan Survey is open now through November 24, 2025, and

takes only a few minutes to complete. Responses will help shape policies and projects that

support reliable, safe, and resilient water systems for current and future residents.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
