Fernley’s Art Week, presented by the Fernley Arts and Culture Event Squad (Fernley ACES), will wrap up tomorrow, Saturday, May 17, with the fourth annual Murals, Music & Margaritas Festival at Center and Main Streets in downtown Fernley.

The free festival will feature live music, fire dancers, a gravity defying aerialist, rock climbing walls, bounce houses and other kids’ activities, food trucks, artisan vendor booths, a margarita tasting contest and a dunk tank.

As part of the festival, restrooms by the Out-of-Town Park soccer fields and near the softball field will receive murals, with the softball field restroom mural to feature a series of famous baseball players and a blank faux “all star” baseball card people may stand in front of for photos of themselves as the American League “all star.”

Murals on private property, under agreements with private property owners, will include a mural across the street from the high school on the self-storage facility at 175 Mull Lane, proclaiming “Welcome to Beautiful Fernley.” In addition, nine panels of a subdivision sound wall facing Highway 95A at Shadow Lane will be painted with a mountain motif mural.

The Murals, Music and Margaritas Festival began in 2021 when the city council approved a contract with the Sierra Arts Foundation to launch the first such event. The Fernley ACES took over the festival in 2023.
