Summer Salute benefits veterans’ groups
This will be the ninth year that the “Summer Salute” will be held (previously hosted by the Classic Chevy Plus Car Club), a benefit car show held on the Saturday, May 24, (Memorial Day weekend) at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno.
The entire net proceeds from the show are donated to the Veterans Guest House and Honor Flight Nevada. At the last year the car show, there were over 400 participants with net proceeds of over $28,000.
The Veterans Guest House directly benefits our military service veterans and their family members by providing temporary overnight accommodations when receiving treatment at a medical facility in the Reno-Sparks area. There is a small paid staff which operates the House, along with a good base of volunteers.
Honor Flight Nevada provides transportation and expenses for our northern Nevada veterans to go to Washington DC to see the War Memorials dedicated them. This has been an especially gratifying experience for many World War II Veterans, Korea and Vietnam and is a way of paying tribute to those who gave so much. Visit www.honorflightnv.org for more information.
