The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a robbery suspect who led deputies on a high-speed chase until deputies ended the pursuit because of safety concerns.
According to the LCSO at 12:13 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to Jackson's Convenience Store for a petit larceny report. They identified the suspect as Adrian Charles Vanderstine after talking with the victim and reviewing security cameras at Jackson's and at Silver State Relief Dispensary. Vanderstine was driving a Silver 1998 Honda Accord.
According to the victim, Vanderstine offered the victim a ride. Later, Vanderstine convinced the victim to get out of the car and wash his windows at the gas station. When the victim approached the driver-side door, Vanderstine sped away with the victim’s belongings and cash, which were still in the vehicle.
Later that day, deputies found the vehicle at the Pilot Travel Center parking lot. Upon contact, LCSO charges that Vanderstine would not follow the deputy's commands and became agitated. Vanderstine started his vehicle, ignoring commands, and sped away at a high rate of speed toward I-80 westbound. Deputies pursued Vanderstine and speeds reached 90 miles per hour. Deputies terminated the pursuit at mile marker 25 due to concerns for the public.
Charges pending against Vanderstine are larceny from a person, eluding an officer, obstructing and delaying an officer and other miscellaneous traffic violations.
