Koenig announces 2024 re-election bid for Assembly District 38 

Assemblyman Dr. Gregory Koenig (R-Fallon) has announced he will be seeking re-election to the Nevada Assembly for District 38. Koenig was first elected to the Nevada Legislature in 2022. During the 2023 Legislative Session, he served on the Education, Government Affairs, and Health and Human Services Committees. 

Koenig has spent most of his life in Nevada. He was born out of state while his father was fighting in Vietnam but returned at the age of five. He received his K-12 education in Fallon and did some of his undergraduate work at the University of Nevada. He later attended Pacific University College of Optometry and returned to Fallon to start his own practice upon graduation. Koenig now has practices in Fallon, Fernley, and Yerington. 

Koenig served 12 years on the Churchill County School Board with half of that time serving as board president. He was also president of the Nevada Association of School Boards and sat on the NIAA Board which oversees high school athletics for the entire state. Koenig served as a Churchill County Commissioner before being elected to the Nevada Assembly. 

“The decision to continue to serve my community by running for and winning the Assembly District 38 seat in 2022 was not one I took lightly,” Koenig said. “Having served in local government for the better part of two decades created a sharp contrast to the more partisan politics we currently see in Carson City. While national politics seemingly plays a more significant role in state government, it has always been my goal to lean on the more bipartisan type of governing we see in local governments. Republican Governor Joe Lombardo was able to bring more balance to our state, but we still need to find a way to get more Republicans elected to both chambers of the legislature. To do that, Republicans must work together throughout Nevada and remember to vote all the way down the ballot in your state and local races.” 

Koenig and his wife Terra have been married for over 30 years. They have three children and five grandchildren. He is active in his church and enjoys early morning basketball games, golf, painting, traveling, and spending time with his family.
