Silver Springs man arrested after standoff

Silver Springs man arrested after standoff

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

A Silver Springs man was arrested Wednesday evening after a standoff in a home on Ramsey Street.

Lyon County dispatch received a call at 6:40 pm reporting that a man walking along the Union Pacific Railroad tracks in Silver Springs was actively firing a weapon in the direction of houses in the 2500 block of Ramsey Street.

When deputies arrived they saw the man several hundred feet from them still actively shooting.

A Shelter in Place order was sent out to residents in the area and Union Pacific was contacted to stop all train traffic.

Once the suspect saw the deputies he ran, and they later saw him go into a home on Ramsey Street. A short time later a woman came out of the house and identified the suspect as 29-year-old Gordon Alexander Bayne. He surrendered peacefully after a short standoff and was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm where others may be endangered and obstructing or resisting a peace officer. His bail was set at $28,640.

The Shelter in Place order was lifted and all Union Pacific Railroad traffic was reopened.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
