Lyon County Commission chairman Ken Gray has announced that he is running for the Nevada Assembly.

Gray announced that he is running for the Assembly District 39 seat currently held by Jim Wheeler,  who announced several weeks ago that he is running for the State Senate currently held by James Settelmeyer, who has termed out.

Gray, a Republican, was elected to the County Commission in the June, 2016 primary election.

"“I have a passion for serving the people of Nevada, and I believe I am best able to represent the conservative values of the residents of Assembly District 39,” Gray said. “I have served in our nation’s armed forces, as a Lyon County Commissioner, and I will continue to fight for America First ideals, keeping taxes low, protecting our Constitutional and Second Amendment rights, and standing up for and supporting law enforcement.”

While on the Commission, Gray has also served as a Director on the Carson Water Sub-conservancy District, Commissioner on the Comstock Historic District Commission, Director on the Dayton Valley Conservation District, member of the Intergovernmental Executive Committee, and has recently been appointed to the Nevada Local Justice Reinvestment Coordinating Council. Additionally, he served as the Lyon County representative to the Nevada Association of Counties on the Public Lands and Natural Resources Committee, as well as the NACO Legislative Committee.

He was voted chairman of the commission earlier in January.

Gray served 26 years in the United States Air Force and achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.

Gray and his wife of 26 years, Kati, live in Dayton. They have two daughters.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
