Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

For the second time in a week, Lyon County has had two consecutive days with no new confirmed cases of COVID-19. Meanwhile, two new recoveries were announced Tuesday.

No new cases were reported Monday and Tuesday by the Quad-County Emergency Operations Center, the fifth time in the last seven days in which there has not been a new case announced in Lyon County.

The most recent case in Lyon County was reported Sunday. That case was a woman in her 30s with no known connection to a previous case.

Lyon County has had a total of 92 confirmed cases, with 68 of them having recovered. There have been two deaths in the county due to COVID-19.

As of 6 p.m. June 16, 41 cases have been in the 89408 zip code, according to Carson City Health and Human Services and the Quad-County EOC.

In the Quad County region, there have now been 264 total cases, 191 recoveries and seven deaths. Six Quad-County residents are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19.

There will be two drive-thru COVID-19 testing events for Quad-County residents without symptoms this week. Testing is first come, first served, no appointments or reservations. There will be 75 tests available from 8-10 a.m. Wednesday at the Virginia Senior Center, and 200 tests available from 8-11 a.m. Friday, June 19 at Dayton High School.
