Six was the magic number for the Fernley High School track teams at last weekend’s Northern 3A Region Meet in Fallon.

The Vaqueros boys and girls teams both finished in sixth place overall, while qualifying a total of six individuals and six relay teams for this week's State Meet, which will be held Friday and Saturday at Desert Oasis High School in Las Vegas.

The boys team scored 66 points, while the girls finished with 59.

Nicholas Bernardo was the star for the Vaqueros, winning their only two individual region championships, while qualifying for State in four events altogether.
