Nevada residents have one month left to enter raffle for Welcome to Nevada road signs

CARSON CITY – The Nevada Department of Transportation is reminding Nevada residents that there is one month left to enter a raffle to receive a “Welcome to Nevada” sign as the old, obsolete highway signs are redesigned and replaced.

The iconic signs depicting a lone prospector have stood at many interstate and freeway entrances into Nevada, welcoming drivers to the state for approximately 25 years. The signs will be replaced by new welcome signs designed by Nevada high school graphic artists through a contest. Organized by the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs in partnership with the Nevada Department of Education and NDOT, the contest invited the public to vote on new welcome sign designs which incorporate new Nevada imagery and branding.

“These new signs will be an important representation of the new Nevada that better reflects our state brand, “A World Within, A State Apart,” NDOT Communications Director Sean Sever explained. “The existing signs that have stood on Nevada roadways for many years are a source of pride and state identity for Nevadans, which is why we wanted to share them and offer a chance for people to bring a bit of state history home.”

Free entry is available through 5 p.m. on Friday, October 21 at nevadadot.com or by calling (775) 888-7000. Residents can also enter by direct messaging through the Department’s Facebook and Twitter social media accounts. Only one entry per person is allowed, and winners must be Nevada residents and willing to sign a waiver regarding lawful usage of the signage. One winner will be randomly selected from each region (northwest, northeast, southwest and southeast) and personally notified as the existing signs are replaced beginning this year.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
