The Fernley Republican Women (FRW) is committed to fostering literacy in the community. Each September, they participate in the National Federation of Republican Women’s Literacy Month by sponsoring literacy projects. On Sept. 26, 2017, Literacy Chair Peggy Gray, along with M.J. Dodson and Joy Hidek, presented a dictionary to each 3rd grade student at Cottonwood Elementary School. Accompanied by Virginia Richardson, Dean of Students, they talked about literacy to the students in Susan Elson, Ian Stoddard, Keta Cline and Cari Bunyard’s classes. Michelle Trousdales’s class was given their dictionaries later in the day. The faces of the children lit up as each received a personal copy of “The Best Dictionary for Students.”

The FRW members also presented five of the books in Rush Limbaugh’s Rush Revere series to Elizabeth Sabo, school librarian: Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims, Rush Revere and the First

Nurse Jen Garrett received the books from Joy Hidek.

Patriots, Rush Revere and the American Revolution, Rush Revere and the Star-Spangled Banner, and Rush Revere and the Presidency.

Later that day, the children’s’ books that the FRW has collected all year were presented to Renown Hospital's Children's Ward. These books will help to educate the children and provide a distraction to their treatment.

Fernley Republican Women is a group of women (and men as associate members) who share similar conservative values and ideals, and who are dedicated to increasing the influence and effectiveness of women in the cause of good government through political education and active political participation.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill?
