The ACCEL College and Career Readiness program at Western Nevada College will again be offering English Language Learning and High School Equivalency preparation classes beginning in July. Located on the Western Nevada College Carson City campus, the ACCEL program is designed to help students gain the skills they need to advance in their careers and lives.
“I had such a great time preparing for my GED with [ACCEL],” said Saira Martinez, a former ACCEL student. “They were super supportive, always cheering me on and making sure I had all the tools I needed to be able to pass my GED.”
Classes are available in a variety of levels and subjects to meet students where they are, and there is no cost to students.
“We know it can be intimidating to come back to school after a long time away, or to pursue education in a new country,” ACCEL Director Angela Holt said. “We want students to know that they can reach their goals and we’re here to help them.”
In addition to helping students learn English or get their High School Equivalency, the ACCEL program also offers instruction in basic computer and workforce skills, WorkKeys testing and one-on-one tutoring. ACCEL will be offering both in-person and remote options to students beginning in July.
