Two killed in crash near Veterans Cemetery

Two people were killed in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning near the Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County dispatch received a call at 6:30 a.m. from a man who said he had been involved in an accident in the desert north of Fernley. Deputies began to search and after a short time found the vehicle near the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Two of the three occupants of the vehicle were found dead. The third, Adrian Phoenix was transported to the hospital by an ambulance crew from the North Lyon County Fire Protection District and is expected to survive. Fabian Phoenix, 30, from Baldwin Park, Calif. and Juanicio Phoenix, 27, from Downey, Calif. were found dead.

LCSO said speed was a factor in the crash and alcohol use is suspected.
