Sunday fire threatens house

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

North Lyon County firefighters were able to stop a fire before it spread to a house Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters from the North Lyon County Fire Department were called shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday to a structure fire in the area of Rancho Rd. and Ricci Ln.

Fire Chief Jason Nicholl said the fire was accidental, having gotten away from a person who was burning weeds.

Nicholl said the fire burned a fifth wheel, a shed and two pickup trucks.

“Luckily (we) stopped it before the house was involved,” Nicholl said.

However, Nicholl said firefighters were hampered in fighting the fire by water supply issues.

“(We) need hydrants on that street,” he said.
