Pinwheel planting ceremony scheduled April 16 in recognition for national child abuse prevention month

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, so the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services, Biggest Little Radio 101.3, and the City of Fernley are partnering to bring awareness to this cause locally.

On Monday, April 16 at 11:30 a.m., there will be a ceremony to plant pinwheels on the front lawn of City Hall, located at 595 Silver Lace Boulevard. These pinwheels serve as a reminder that every child deserves a happy childhood.

Mayor Roy Edgington will read a formal proclamation during the ceremony, declaring April 2018 as National Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month in Fernley.

The public is invited to attend this event. In addition, the City urges all citizens to recognize this month by dedicating ourselves to the task of improving the quality of life for all children and families.

In addition, Biggest Little Radio 101.3 in Fernley will be doing a series of on‐air segments regarding child welfare awareness. These clips will air on Thursdays from 12– 12:30 p.m.
