From March 19, 2018 through March 31, 2018, law enforcement officers throughout the state participated in the Joining Forces program. While Nevada law enforcement continues to conduct traffic stops on a daily basis for a multitude of violations, the focus of those two weeks was focused on pedestrian safety.

During that time period, Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers initiated 251 traffic stops resulting in 229 citations issued. Below are the statistics from the event:

  • Pedestrian Violations: 16
  • Driver Violations to Pedestrians: 45
  • Seat Belt: 15
  • Speed: 54
  • Cell Phone: 60
  • Suspended Driver License: 2
  • Driver License Violation: 16
  • Registration Violation: 23
  • No Proof of Insurance : 10
  • Failure to Yield: 1
  • All Other Citations: 9

The Nevada Highway Patrol would like to remind motorists to always watch out for pedestrians. Additionally, pedestrians also need to remember to cross any roadway at proper locations. Remember that glare and weather conditions can reduce visibility for drivers and make pedestrians harder to see.
