The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a wrong-way vehicle that killed an Oroville, Calif. resident.
According to the NHP, troopers responded to a crash involving a wrong-way vehicle on I-80 and mile marker 56, east of Fernley at approximately 11:34 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22. NHP says its preliminary investigation shows that a blue 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was wrong-way on I-80, traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes. A gold 2002 Ford F-350 pickup truck was traveling eastbound in the left lane where it was struck head-on by the Silverado.
The driver of the Silverado, Sky Thomas, 30, of Oroville, Calif. was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the F-350 was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
This crash is being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) – NHP Case #201101656.
