Fernley to host track meet Saturday

The Fernley High School track team will honor its seniors Saturday morning as it hosts its second meet of the season, and the final tuneup before the regional meet next week in Fallon.

The seniors will be honored following the National Anthem at 8 a.m.

The Vaqueros competed last week in a three-team meet in Fallon, where the boys team finished second and the girls were third.

The highlight for the Vaqueros came in the boys 800 meters, where Carson Humes won by 10 seconds and set his personal record with a time of 2:03.24.

“He ran tough and recorded our fastest 800 time quite awhile, coach Todd Wright said. “He has his eyes on our school record of 2:00.7.”

Cameron Radli won both throwing events, taking the shot put with a heave of 40 feet, 7 inches, and the discus with a throw of 152-1.

Dustin Boutell won the 400 meters in 54.71, and Morgan Zolyniak won the 1,600 meters in 5:10.37.

Connie Hunter won the 300-meter hurdles in 50.36, his personal record, and Fernley’s other event win came in the 4×400 relay, where Boutell, Humes, Hunter and Austin Gerhardson won in 3:42.04.

For the girls, Amelia Stolting won the 400 meters in a personal record time of 1:12.02, Aurora Parsons won the discus with a throw of 104-2.

Fernley also won three of the four relays In the 4×200, Camille Radli, Marissa Di Stefano, Naomi Wyatt and Kiriann Johnson took first with a time of 1:58.33. In the 4×400, Myla Bott, Vianca Frias, Di Stefano and Karley Hodgden won with a time of 4:39.96, and in the 4×800, Fernley was the only team with Amelia Stolting, Brooke Gonzalez-Renteria, Laila Kinnick and Trinity Garcia-Anderson running a time of 12:21.51
