STEM Considering “Invention Convention”

Joseph Maino, The Fernley Reporter

The Fernley STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Council is considering adding an event to the STEM calendar and is looking for public input. The affair would consist of a science “Show N Shine” specifically exhibiting inventions by students from 6th grade through adult.

The intent of the project is to foster discovery, encourage curiosity and have its participants actually make innovative inventions. Various workshops on brainstorming and how to obtain a patent could be part of the program. Depending on public and student interest, the “Invention Convention” would happen during the Fall of 2017.

Fernley’s STEM Council currently sponsors the STEM Fair in February each year. If you have suggestions regarding the Invention Convention or wish to get involved in this new educational initiative, please email the STEM Council at FernleySTEMCouncil@gmail.org.
