Upcoming WNC Community Education Classes in Fallon

With the goal of enriching the cultural, social, and recreational life of the Fallon area, Western Nevada College is offering the following classes through its Community Education Division:

Seasonal Crafts: Paper Flowers — 9:30-11 a.m. March 10. Create spring paper flowers in this fun class. Cost: $30, children are free with an adult registration.

Will Workshop — 10 a.m.-noon. March 10. Plan ahead in this crucial class.  Students will learn from a lawyer the requirements for making an effective will. Cost: $60.

Self-Defense — 6-9 p.m. March 12. Improve your awareness, build your confidence, and increase your knowledge of how to defend yourself in this essential class. Cost: $50.

Astronomy: NASA/Planets — 7-9 p.m. March 14. This class will discuss major astronomical and NASA events. Hunt for Neptune, Uranus, and other dep space objects. Cost: $46 per class or $120 for series of four classes.

Basic Microsoft Word, Part 1 — 6-9 p.m. March 19-22. This class will teach students the basics of the program including numerous keyboard shortcuts to make everyday word processing easy and efficient. Cost: $75.

Parenting Class — 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 19. Learn effective co-parenting styles, conflict resolution skills, and how to improve and use communication skills with children. Cost: $106.

Seasonal Crafts: Washcloth Animals — 5:45-7:45 p.m. March 20. Just in time for spring and Easter, learn to make fun and adorable animals using washcloths. Cost: $25, plus $5 supply fee payable to the instructor.

Basic Microsoft Word, Part 2 — 6-9 p.m. March 26-29. Expand your knowledge of Microsoft Word in this useful class.  Learn to create and format tables, build documents using graphics, WordArt, charts, themes, text boxes, and merge documents. Cost: $75.

Beginning Pottery — 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tues. March 27-May 15. Discover the art of making pottery and create unique and useful objects in this fun class. Cost: $80, plus $20 supply fee payable to the instructor.

The goal of the Community Education Division is to respond to community needs for lifelong learning opportunities. The program is self-supporting and doesn’t receive state funds to sponsor its classes and workshops. The events are funded entirely by student fees. Classes are offered for no credit and with no final grade assigned.
