Zoberski, Torres, McKay win Council races

Felicity Zoberski, Albert Torres and Fran McKay won the races for the three seats on the Fernley City Council, while Harry Wheeler, Dan McCassie and Paul Murphy were the three leading vote-getters in the race for the three seats up for grabs on the North Lyon County Fire Protection District Board of Directors.

In the City Council Ward 2 race, Zoberski received 1,410 votes to 744 for Don Parsons. In Ward 4, Torres was reelected with 968 votes to 579 for Bill Burrows. In Ward 5, McKay was reelected with 893 votes, to 782 for Chris Ward.

In the race for the North Lyon Fire Board, Wheeler has 4,019, 22.29 McCassie is second with 3,473 votes, 18.89 percent and Murphy is third with 2,918. Jay Rodriguez is fourth with 2,747 votes, Ray Block is fifth with 2,675 and Pat Hon is sixth with 2,200.

In the race for the Fernley Swimming Pool GID Board of Directors, Cheryl Howell is the leader with 3,706 votes, Dena Lopez is second with 3,6,84, Helen Brooks is third with 3,6,82 votes, Nancy Clarke is fourth with 3,530 votes and Janie Jude-Askew is fifth with 1,7,90.

In the races for Lyon County Commission, Republican Wes Henderson easily defeated Democrat Leandra Carr in District 1, with 19,600 votes for Henderson, to 7,698 for Carr. In District 3, Ken Gray was unopposed and received 23,086 votes, while in District 4, Rob Jacobson won with 19,502, while Cody Wagner, who ended his campaign because he was not allowed to withdraw from the ballot, received 6,792 votes.
