Vaqueros come back to beat Truckee in first round of playoffs

It’s on to Elko in the Northern 3A semifinals for the Fernley Vaqueros.

Fernley rallied from a 28-13 deficit in the final 6:22 of the game to win at Truckee, 35-34, in the first round of the Northern 3A playoffs Friday night.

The Vaqueros scored three times in a span of 3:31, then stopped a potential game-winning 2-point conversion by Truckee with 1:51 remaining to hold on for the win.

Fernley will now travel to Elko at 6 p.m. next Friday for a regional semifinal game.
