Two Silverland students place in 2017 Scripps National Spelling Bee District Finals

Silverland Middle School student Andrew Knight is the 7th grade champion of the 2017 Scripps National Spelling Bee District Finals, while classmate Robbie Whalen finished second.

The winners of this year’s district finals were:

Grade 6
First Place:  Kaeden Fetters, Sutro Elementary School
Second Place: Ally Wulfing, Smith Valley Schools
Third Place: Josie MacMahand, Silver Stage Elementary School
Grade 7:
First Place: Andrew Knight, Silverland Middle School
Second Place: Robbie Whalen, Silverland Middle School
Third Place: Grace Treadwell, Yerington Intermediate School
Grade 8:
First Place: Elizabeth Smith, Yerington Intermediate School
Second Place: Caden Treadwell, Yerington Intermediate School
Third Place: Luke Madole, Yerington Intermediate School
