Suspect charged with arson in April 24 fire on Villa Way

Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

The Nevada State Fire Marshal’s Office announced Tuesday that investigators arrested a person suspected of arson in a fire on Villa Way on April 24.

Following several leads, Nevada State Fire Marshal investigators, with assistance from the Highway Patrol, located and arrested the suspect, Genevieve Donnelly, who was charged with first degree arson. Donnelly was booked into the Washoe County Detention Center.

The Fire Marshal’s Office said the home was not occupied at the time of the fire on April 24. At the time, witnesses reported seeing someone throw something flammable at the house during a domestic dispute. State Fire Marshal Investigators determined on-scene that the fire resulted from arson.
