Single lane closures began Wednesday on westbound Interstate 80 west of Fernley and will continue through the end of the week as the Nevada Department of Transportation enhances roadside drainage.
The right-hand lane of I-80 will be closed between the Derby Dam area and USA Parkway from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Wednesday, Jan. 10 through Friday, Jan. 12. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph through the work zone.
Motorists should anticipate minor travel delays, and are advised to allow extra travel time. Depending on weather, the road work could extend into additional days. Drainage will be enhanced near a roadside concrete barrier rail to reduce water pooling on the roadway.
Previous erosion repair and enhancements were made last year on sections of the interstate closer to Sparks
