Checking out a book from the Fernley Library has just gotten a lot faster,
There is no more waiting at the Fernley Library when checking out books because the library’s new self-checkout scanners do all the work for you.
Just scan your library card and place the item to be checked out on the special platform and you are done. Additionally, a printed copy of the transaction tells you when the material must be returned.
Lyon County Library Director Amy Geddes is installing these quick check out systems in all of the county’s libraries and training the librarians how to use the system, so they can train the library’s patrons.
“The system is easy to use and lets users quickly get in and out of the library,” Geddes said. “Patrons should remember to bring their library cards so they can be scanned.”

This is such a benefit for all our library branches. These systems will greatly benefit both our library patrons and all of our branch worker assistants.
