It was a rough first round for the three Fernley players at the first round of the 3A State Girls Golf Championships Monday at Ruby View Golf Course in Elko.
Olivia Victor was Fernley’s low scorer with a 125, finishing the first round tied for 34th place. Megan Thompson shot 141 and is 41st, while Jenna Kollar shot 150 and is 45th.
Conditions were tough, with only 11 of the 46 players posting scores lower than 100.
Lani Potter of Boulder City is the first-round leader with a 71, while Annika Criss of Elko was second at 83.
“Cold conditions made it a little rough,” Fernley coach Brian O’Neill said. “Spirits are high and we found things that will help out tomorrow.”
