Prairie Lane home fire under investigation

The cause of a fire that damaged a home on Prairie Lane Tuesday evening is under investigation.

North Lyon County Fire Protection District chief Jason Nicholl said children at the home discovered a fire in the garage. They escaped from the house and ran to a neighbor to call 911.

When firefighters arrived, they found a heavily involved garage fire.

North Lyon County Fire with the assistance of Central Lyon Fire, was able to put the fire out. The kids and all of the animals in the house were able to get out safely and no injuries were reported.

Storey County Fire and Pryamid Lake Fire were responding to provide mutual aid but were cancelled while en route.
