Fernley’s Isaac O’Neill finished second individually and the Fernley High School boys golf team was second as a group at the Vaqueros first meet of the season in Fallon last week.
O’Neill shot an 87 and finished a stroke behind Kevin Thompson of Spring Creek. As a team, the Vaqueros finished with a team score of 395, five strokes behind Lowry, which won the meet with a team score of 390.
The Vaqueros didn’t compete in the league’s first meet in Spring Creek the previous week.
In addition to O’Neill, Jacob Holmes was Fernley’s second scorer with a 98, finishing eight in Fallon, while Noah Davis shot 100 to finish ninth. Jake McCreary shot 110 and Jett Caudle and Angelo Reyes each shot 118.
