The Nevada Highway Patrol is still investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 80 near Fernley that killed a Utah woman.
Michelle Norton, 28, of Clinton, UT was killed in a single vehicle crash on Interstate 80 near mile marker 40, about six miles west of Fernley.
According to NHP, troopers responded to the crash at approximately 2:43 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. Preliminary investigation shows that a white 2004 Nissan Sentra was traveling on I-80 when the vehicle drifted into the outside shoulder. Norton overcorrected steering to the right and lost control of the vehicle, which overturned. Norton was unrestrained, ejected from the vehicle, and died of her injuries at the scene. Her passenger was transported with non-incapacitating injuries.
This crash is being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) – NHP Case #201001979.
