Fernley Republican Women won the national Diamond Award for Achievement during the National Federation of Republican Women 41st Biennial Convention held Sept. 24-26 in Orlando, Fla. More than 500 awards were given to clubs demonstrating excellence in several key areas.

“I am so proud of the members of the Fernley Republican Women for winning another Diamond Award,” FRW President Anita Trone said. “There are 17 clubs in Nevada, and all 17 won an Achievement Award – fifteen Diamonds, one Silver and one Bronze. That success led to the Nevada Federation of Republican Women winning a Betty Heitman award for State Excellence, which was accepted by our state president, Janet Freixas.”

“The NFRW Achievement Awards program is designed to enhance teamwork among members of each club,” said NFRW Achievement Awards Chair Roxanne Husmann of Washington. “Using the Achievement Awards worksheet as a guide for planning club activities produces a well-balanced club program. It establishes standards of performance for membership development, campaign activities, community relations, leadership development, programs and club functions.”

More than 40 percent of Republican women’s clubs, representing 39 states, earned an NFRW Achievement Award this biennium.

“It is the culmination of two years of diligent planning and hard work on the part of these club members, and we are proud of their efforts,” Husmann said.

Founded in 1938, the National Federation of Republican Women is the largest grassroots Republican women’s organization in the country.
