Newly elected Ward 5 City Councilwoman Fran McKay will be sown into office at tonight’s meeting of the Fernley City Council, which begins at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

McKay won the Ward 5 election during the primary election in June, by virtue of collecting more than 50 percent of the vote.

In addition, councilman Dan McCassie, who won reelection for his Ward 2 seat, will also repeat his oath of office

McKay will replace retiring councilmember Cal Eilrich, who chose not to seek reelection to spend more time on personal pursuits.

Among the topics on tonight’s agenda is the third presentation on the fiscal year 2017-17 Community Development Block Grant project applications, a report on the surface water treatment plant alternatives and a discussion on the council’s priorities for the next fiscal year.
