LCSO to reopen substations, resume other office functions

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will be reopening its substations and resuming other records and administration office functions effective Monday, May 4, Sheriff Frank Hunewill said.

In a press release issued Thursday, Hunewill said the sheriff’s office will be returning to normal work status in the operations of records and administration services.

“We limited some essential services for a 30-day period, but we feel that we owe it to the citizens we serve to reinstate those services,” Hunewill said. “Due to the nature of our business, that being a 24/7 operation, we believe we are causing a great deal of confusion in the public by limiting services.”

LCSO asked that the public continue to practice social distancing and situational awareness and keep up to date on the Governor’s directives.

Among the services being reinstated:

  • Patrol functions shall remain in normal operation status.
  • Area substations in Fernley, Dayton and Silver Springs will be open to the public Monday through Friday.
  • The main office in Yerington will be open to the public Monday through Friday normal hours.
  • LCSO will begin processing CCW permits
  • Sex offender registrations can proceed
  • Civil operations will continue as normal
  • The suspension of the VIP services will continue at this time.
