Next Wednesday, April 11, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will receive a grant for $16,467 for its K-9 program.
A ceremony will take place at the Firehouse Subs, 3
120 US Highway 50, Carson City at 11:45 a.m. A representative from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, representatives of the Carson City Firehouse Subs, and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand.
Through the generosity of this grant, the LCSO was able to field K-9 Borys, provide a vehicle with a K-9 up-fit, and cover the cost of the K-9 handler certification course. K-9 Borys will also on hand for the ceremony.
“Through this grant funding the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has allowed our K-9 program to move years into the future,” Sheriff Al McNeil said. “Without their help we would not have been able to field a second dog for at least another couple of years. We are truly grateful for their support.”
