Honchariw to speak to Fernley Republican Women Sept. 19

Policy analyst Daniel Honchariw will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Fernley Republican Women, Sept. 19 at the Fernley Senior Center, at 105 Lois Lane, Fernley. A light meal will be served at 6 p.m. and the meeting will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. The public is always invited to attend.

Honchariw is a Bay Area native who moved to Nevada in 2016 to work for Nevada Policy in Las Vegas. Over his 6+ year tenure with Nevada Policy, his research and writings have prioritized liberty-oriented education- and labor-reform efforts. He also served as Nevada Policy’s director of legislative affairs during the 2019 and 2021 legislative sessions. Now, he spends most of his time campaigning against ranked-choice voting.

His writings have appeared in periodicals across the state including the Las Vegas Review-Journal and the Reno Gazette-Journal. Honchariw received his undergraduate degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University (2009) and later earned a master’s in public administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills (2014).

When he’s not working, you can usually find him hiking, biking, and/or skiing around the Lake Tahoe basin. He now lives in Genoa.

The FRW’s Caring for America Program collects non-perishable foods for the Fernley Food Bank and the Armed Forces/Homeland Security Program collects cleaning supplies, food and personal care items, along with donations of funds, for the Veterans Guest House in Reno. The Literacy Committee collects new and lightly used children’s books for Bow Wow Books, an organization that teamed up with the Fernley library. Bow Wow Reading Dogs are non-judgmental certified therapy dogs who listen to children reading aloud. All contributions for these programs will be appreciated. Fernley Republican Women is a group of women (and men as associate members) who share similar conservative values and ideals, and who are dedicated to increasing the influence and effectiveness of women in the cause of good government through political education and active political participation.
