Fernley Estates’ team members recognized as Shining Star Caregivers

During the 2021 Caregiver Recognition Virtual Event, the Nevada Caregivers Coalition recognized four team members from Fernley Estates Senior Living and Memory Care for their hard work and extraordinary commitment to caregiving in both paid and unpaid roles.

Madelyn “Maddie” Bird, Jeannie McGinnis, Jada Marable, and Samantha Toms are among 20 Mission Senior Living team members celebrated during the virtual event hosted by the Nevada Caregivers Coalition.  Laura Higman, the administrator at Fernley Estates, nominated team members.

Madelyn “Maddie” Bird joined Fernley Estates in 2018 as a resident assistant and now serves as a primary medication assistant in the community’s assisted living and memory care. “Maddie’s dedication is not only to our residents but to her team members as well,” said Higman. “Maddie has residents’ best interests at heart.”

Jeannie McGinnis joined Fernley Estates in 2018 as a transportation driver, and has since become a valued team member, resident advocate, and overall “jack of all trades.” “I’m proud to say that Jeanne knows each of our residents on a deeper level, and provides not only care and service, but personal connections to her job every day.”

Jada Marable joined Fernley Estates less than a year ago and already she has exceeded expectations as a caregiver. So much so, said Higman, that she serves as a caregiver trainer. “Positivity is a trait that cannot be taught, but her infectious positivity spreads through residents and team members — brightening everyone’s day!”

Samantha Toms joined the dining team at Fernley Estates in 2018 and has since transitioned to the wellness department as a resident assistant/medication assistant because, she said, “I love to be with residents and care for them.”  “Samantha is a positive force. She ensures that residents are heard and cared for in memory care and assisted living,” said Higman.  “She is a piece of Fernley Estates that cannot be unseen!”
